Basis Points is a financial-literacy course — an initiative of Azora Capital. The name is the thesis: a basis point is one one-hundredth of one percent, the smallest unit serious money is measured in. Small decisions, compounded over time, are the whole game.
The opportunity
We teach teenagers the year a war ended and the parts of a cell, then send them into a world run on interest, leverage, and fine print — without a single lesson on how any of it works. The result is predictable. People make the three or four largest financial decisions of their lives — a car, a home, a degree, a credit balance — with no framework, against counterparties who do this for a living.
That gap is not an accident, and it is rarely in anyone’s interest to close it for you. Basis Points exists to close it.
The approach
No hype, no jargon for its own sake, and no product waiting at the end. Every module follows the same five beats so the format disappears and the idea lands.
What the decision is really costing you, in plain dollars.
The default move, and who profits when you make it.
The mental model that reframes the whole thing.
The numbers, run once, slowly, until they click.
The specific thing you do differently from here.

Who teaches it
Ravi Chopra spent twenty-five years inside finance — Goldman Sachs, Sigma, and Partner and Sector Head of U.S. Financial Services at Samlyn Capital — before founding Azora Capital, where he serves as Chief Investment Officer. He has seen how money actually moves, and how often the other side of the table counts on you not knowing. Allison Chopra co-hosts as the voice for the rest of us, asking the questions you would ask and refusing to let any answer hide behind jargon.
What we believe
We don’t tell you what to buy. We teach you how it works so you can decide.
The numbers are the argument. We run them in the open, every time.
Financial understanding should not be a luxury good. So it is free.
